October 3, 2023 During summer break, when Grandmother attended her sorority's national convention, Daddy would stay with Grandfather Dennis and Aunt Florence. I asked what he did --- if he went fishing or rode bicycles. He said, "I dranks soda pop! That was a big thing." And then he said he mostly spent time with Grandfather Dennis. He would go down into the basement with him, where he separated the cream from the milk, He went to the barn with him, where Grandfather Dennis killed a chicken in the way that was common at the time, but that was surprising for Daddy, his grandfather being such a kindly man. Daddy walked to the pond with his grandfather, where he liked to go to ponder. Daddy said, "He was good to me. I asked him about death once, and I think that maybe the way I asked him was not very tactful. But he was kind in his answer.
